Class of 2026

Julie chose JMU Engineering because of its non-specific program. "I love that I’ll be learning all types of engineering. It helps to relieve the pressure of having to pick a discipline early in my education."

"I became an EA because of how much the EA’s helped me! I never really understood engineering and all there was to it until I was in my senior year of high school. I’m hoping to encourage younger students to consider engineering."

Julie belongs to the Society of Women Engineers, JMU Welding Club, and JMU Chi Alpha. In her free time she enjoys playing the guitar and ukulele, baking, reading, and spending time with friends.

How is JMU Engineering preparing you for your future?

"I’m learning so much about problem-solving and experimenting. Sometimes I struggle with just taking a step unless I know the entire path. JMU Engineering is really helping me to be bold and just make a move and change as needed."

Advice for prospective students:

"Keep your mind open! Most of us have a set plan for our futures, but be open to new possibilities! Try all types of new things like new clubs or new projects. Have an open mind and attitude for the best experience in this program."
