Virtual Career Fairs
Campus-Wide Virtual Career Fair
Our two-day Virtual Campus-Wide Virtual Career Fair is open to all majors and promoted to all JMU students. Each day of the virtual fair targets a set of industries:
-
Government, Non-profit & Liberal Arts Industries: Tuesday, February 16th, 11am-3pm
-
Business, Health, Sciences & Arts Industries: Wednesday, February 24th, 11am-3pm
Employers are encouraged to attend the fair(s) most suited to their hiring needs and availability. You are welcome to register for both fair dates, though you must register for each separately to attend both fair dates. Please note that registering for one fair date solely confirms your attendance on that date—it does not confirm your attendance for the other date.

Virtual Platform
We will be using Handshake’s virtual career fair platform. We will be continually sharing resources with registered attendees to help you and your team adapt successfully to this continually evolving platform. We highly recommend familiarizing yourself with the fair platform well in advance of the fair to make the most of the fair experience and avoid technical challenges.
Interviews
While the virtual fair sessions facilitates informal 1:1 meeting times with students, JMU does offer virtual interviewing options if you would like to schedule more formal follow up interviews with candidates you met during the fair. Feel free to reach out to handshake@jmu.edu for more information on scheduling formal interviews following your fair participation.
Registration
All below deadlines and fees apply to both fair dates.
Deadlines
- Registration Opens: November 2, 2021
- Registration Closes: February 2, 2021 or when we reach our employer limit for that fair session/day (whichever occurs first)
- Cancellation Deadline for 100% refund: January 19, 2021
- Cancellation Deadline for 50% refund: February 2, 2021
- No refund will be issued for cancellations received after February 2, 2021
- Payment is due at the time your registration is approved.
Fees
Please note that fees are per date; employers who register for two fair dates will be invoiced for both dates. For example, a for-profit organization attending both fair dates would pay $400 to attend the targeted fair day on February 16th, and another $400 to attend the targeted fair day on February 24th.
- $400: Corporate/For-Profit Organizations
- $200: Government Agencies & Non-Profit Organizations (This will be verified through the email address provided during registration.)
- $100: 501(c)(3) Charitable Non-Profit Organizations (To verify status, your tax ID will be needed as you provide your contact information.)
Proceeds from the career fair are used in part to fund the Unpaid Internship Scholarship Program.
Instructions
- Log in to our online recruiting platform Handshake.

- While third party recruiters are welcome to attend the fair, we require they only recruit for their own positions, rather than attending the fair with the intent to staff external positions.
