Career Advising Graduate Assistant
Year Started at JMU: 2023
Pronouns: She/They

I help students make the jump from "student" to "professional!" I assist in appointments ranging from resume and cover letter reviews to job and internship searches and work with our Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator on our UCC Student Advisory Board!

My Career Journey

My career journey is anything but linear. I went to JMU for my undergrad, and at the time, I thought I wanted to be a Theatre, Musical Theatre, or Vocal Performance major. I ended up majoring in Spanish and I had no idea what I wanted to do with the degree or if I even wanted to use the degree at all! I scored several jobs and volunteer experiences in JMU that allowed me to gain a passion for working with students, particularly in my Group Exercise Instructor job. I taught a yoga class during my first semester which allowed me to get to know a 2nd year student in the College Student Personnel Administration (CSPA) program here at JMU. I decided that the program would be a perfect fit for me because I could learn how to work with students from a counseling perspective, and I could do what I loved every single day by participating in an assistantship. I graduated from JMU in May 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Foreign Languages with a concentration in Spanish and a Theatre minor, and I am currently a first year CSPA student!
