What is the Student Advisory Board?
We value the voice of our JMU students in shaping our University Career Center and informing how we can best serve them.
The purpose of this board is to:
- Provide a voice in shaping the new direction of our career services office.
- Explore how to make our services and programs more inclusive, equitable, and accessible for students.
- Serve as a place to pilot new career development initiatives with students.

Commitment
- Attend a virtual meeting once a month for an hour.
- Serve as a liaison between University Career Center and the student body by providing feedback and information on emerging student issues and concerns.
- Identify unmet student body career needs and strategize methods for improvement.
- Represent your experience on the University Career Center Student Advisory Board.

- Research our office. Our website includes a lot of information about our services. Before applying, take time to learn as much as you can so you can demonstrate an understanding of our mission, what we're doing well, and how we can improve.
- Think about the impact you want to make. What kind of stamp would you like to leave on our University Career Center? What's missing in terms of our services and programs? How can JMU’s Career Center better connect with the student body?
