Preparing to enter the job world in a new capacity can be uncomfortable. The information below is meant to assist you in searching for internships and jobs, as well as provide resources specific to veterans seeking employment.

The sources below are specifically designed to serve veterans by assisting with job searches and providing information on military friendly organizations. 

  • Career OneStop: Provides veterans with information on benefits and assistance, military-to-civilian job search tips, and a job board for veterans. Sponsored by the Department of Labor.
  • VA for Vets: Offers assistance for transitioning veterans that are seeking federal careers by explaining the federal hiring processes, giving overviews of deployment and reintegration processes, and by providing information on agencies and nonprofits. 
  • Transition Assistance: Presents featured information for events and job fairs structured towards veterans, and provides detailed information for veterans seeking military friendly companies and small business jobs. 
  • Virginia Values Veterans: Supplies information on companies that have made a public commitment to hire veterans. The site provides access to companies websites where you can locate an HR point of contact to help you better understand the company and positions available.

  • My Next Move: Allows you to search codes or titles from the Military Occupational Classification (MOC) and will bring up related civilian occupations. Results allow you to view a comprehensive list of required knowledge, skills, and abilities required for a position. It will additionally provide you with suggestions to translate your military experience into civilian language.
