Passwords

  • Do Not Share Your JMU Passwords

    It is extremely important that you not share your password with anyone, and in particular, never provide it to anyone via email or phone. JMU will never ask for your password via email or phone. Never provide it regardless of circumstance. JMU as well as other universities across the country are the target of attacks by criminals hoping to fool people into giving away their university passwords. They send messages and make phone calls claiming to be from the university and needing the information for email or security upgrades. Any large-scale maintenance and security announcements are posted to the JMU computing site.

  • How do I change my password?

    e-ID: This password grants access to your JMU Webmail(e-mail), e-campus, J-Ess, Blackboard, and many other JMU web based applications.

  • orgs.jmu.edu

    Web Server Passwords (for Web, People and Orgs) Passwords

    Web.jmu.edu, people.jmu.edu, and orgs.jmu.edu are web servers that are part of our Windows server Active Directory Domain. The login names and passwords for these servers are automatically synched to your e-ID and password. Your web server passwords will change every 90 days when you change your e-ID password. Be sure to always log out of all applications, including these web servers, prior to changing your e-ID password through the accounts portal.
