  • Windows Vista Enterprise (faculty/staff/JMU-owned computers only)
  • (Please note there will be no support for "Home" versions of Vista)

The JMU standard install of Windows Vista requires special disk partitioning which should be performed before the initial installation.

Please follow steps 1-21 in the document below in the section entitled "Partition a disk with no operating system for BitLocker." DO NOT FOLLOW THE REST OF THE INSTRUCTIONS ABOUT TURNING ON BITLOCKER. More information on activation and use of BitLocker will be published later.

  • Version for staff: Enterprise
  • Version for students: Ultimate
  • Processor: 1.6 Ghz, 32 bit
  • System memory (RAM): 1 GB
  • This is equal to the following:

    • Desktop: Optiplex GX620 (black with silver sides)
    • Laptop: Latitude D620

  • For Faculty/Staff Machines: 2 partitions (one with at least 1.5GB disk space, see above)
