Summary

Madison Awards for Academic Excellence are merit-based awards which recognize a broad spectrum of accomplishment and potential. Academic colleges and departments are responsible for selecting individuals who possess scholastic achievement within a particular area of study and demonstrate promise to the university.

Award amounts are equivalent to 75% of in-state tuition and comprehensive fees based on the year entering JMU.

Application Process

Students will be reviewed for the Madison Awards for Academic Excellence using their application for admission to JMU, no additional application is required. However, all students are encouraged to go to the Madison Scholarships Hub and complete the General Application to be considered for other scholarship opportunities.

After an offer of admission, scholarship recipients will be notified as part of the financial aid award notice process. Applicants who do not receive a scholarship will not be notified.

Maintaining Eligibility

Students must achieve a 3.0 cumulative JMU grade point average by the end of each academic year to qualify for renewal. Some scholarships have additional requirements which will be clearly stated in the financial aid offer.
