1. Orientation

We host an Orientation for new folks quarterly. Upon arrival to JMU, a New SAPs Leadership Team member will reach out to you and your supervisor to confirm your orientation date. The time remains consistent between 9am–12:30pm (lunch provided).

2. Communication

New SAPs communicate with members through:

  • ListServ Emails—As a new SAP you are automatically added to this group
  • Calendar Invites—You will receive these, You are more than welcome to decline or accept it. We are working to make your involvement easy on your side! We typically send calendar invites in chunks by month. 
  • SA Newsletter—Check out our general updates and opportunities monthly
  • New SAPs Website—We continue to update the website with resources and information to support you in your role
3. Programming

We will host approximately 12–20 official events per semester in the areas of social connections, wellness, and professional development. You can attend as many or as few as you want! There is no pressure to be at all of them. Come to what you can and what interests you. Nothing fitting your time, schedule, or needs? Let us know. We take feedback seriously and work to make our programming easier and more accessible for folks.

4. Mentoring

Interested in gaining a mentor from a seasoned Student Affairs Professional? We'd love to pair you up. There is very little time commitment. Our role is to be the connectors between you and another professional. We will provide meal tickets for you and your mentor to share a meal. From there, you can take the relationship wherever you'd like it to go.
