• Attend Get Ready, Get Set Fall Seminar
• Request Access to the Applicant/Alumni canvas page (email pph@jmu.edu)- this canvas page contains all necessary documents and resources for applicants to successfully navigate the Letter Packet and Pre-Application Review (PAR) Process
• Register for January – June MCAT dates (October); apply for Fee Assistance Program (if applicable).
• Register for a DENTPIN before you apply to take the DAT.
• Begin research for school selection (MSAR, Choose DO Explorer, and ADEA Official Guide to Dental Schools)
• Participate in college open houses and webinars.
• Reflect on competencies and candidacy timing – is this the year you should apply? Meet with a PPH advisor to discuss candidacy. 
• Begin drafting your personal statement 

Spring Semester 2023

• Take your MCAT
• Request a copy of your official college transcripts for personal review – check for errors.
• Attend PPH Spring Workshops
• February 1, 2023: Deadline to submit Intent to Apply Form (available on the Applicant/Alumni canvas page)
• Schedule Pre-Application Review (PAR) session with your PPH Advisor (scheduling link available on the Applicant/Alumni canvas page) 
• Draft and finalize your Pre-Application Review (PAR) Materials (available on the Applicant/Alumni canvas page).  
• Request VeCollect account (instructions available on the Applicant/Alumni Canvas page). 
• Meet with potential letter writers and begin to request letters using VeCollect. 

May 2023

• Application portals open!
• Download and utilize 2023 AMCAS/AACOMAS/AADSAS/TMDSAS instruction Manual(s)
• Begin AMCAS/AACOMAS/AADSAS/TMDSAS data entry
• Request a copy of your official transcript from the Registrar’s Office to aid in AMCAS/AACOMAS/AADSAS data entry. Submit transcript forms to Registrars’ Offices and all other US colleges or Universities you attended. If you took spring classes, wait until grades are posted; otherwise do this ASAP.
• Ensure that letters have been received. Send final reminder to any evaluators who have not yet submitted.

June 2023

• June 1, 2023 – final deadline to schedule your PAR session. If you have not scheduled your PAR, we will not be able to provide Letter Packet services on your behalf.
• Ideal time to submit your primary application (AMCAS/AACOMAS/AADSAS/TMDSAS) and request your JMU Letter Packet. 
• Your assigned PPH advisor will upload your letter packet to AMCAS/AACOMAS/AADSAS/TMDSAS within 14 days of the dissemination request.
• Complete and send secondary applications back within two weeks of receiving them. 

• July 1, 2023: final day to complete the PAR session with your assigned advisor.

 August 2023

• August 15, 2023: final deadline by which you must submit PDF version of AMCAS/AACOMAS/AADSAS/TMDSAS verified application to receive a letter packet. Ideal deadline: June 15, 2023.

 Fall 2023 (continuing through acceptances)

• Schedule mock interviews; official interview invitations begin (and continue through April).
• Send updates of your activities to schools that accept updates. Updates demonstrate continued engagement and continued interest.
• October 2023: First acceptances released by some medical/dental schools.

August 2024: Matriculate at Medical School or Dental School
