Linlin Uta is an artist and educator with a hope of delivering classical music to various ages and locations.
As an educator, Linlin has worked as an intern at the Piano Camp at Music Institute of Chicago, teaching piano and theory in 2015. She was an adjunct faculty for class piano at JMU in 2021. And, she is currently the chair of music theory for the Harrisonburg Music Teachers Association.
As an artist, she has performed at different venues in the U.S. and Japan. She was invited to perform as a guest pianist at the Past, Present, and Future Concert in 2013. In the summer of 2013, she was also invited to perform a solo recital at the Huss Gallery in Evanston, IL. Linlin has had the honor to perform at the Noontime Concert Series sponsored by ARK Ensemble and Korean American Community Services in 2013, 2014, and 2015. She also had an honor to perform at the Senior Honor's Convocation at the Lake Forest Presbyterian Church in 2016. She was invited by the Mozart Club to perform a solo recital in the summer of 2017 in James Town, NY. She has appeared as the soloist with Houghton Symphonic Orchestra in 2018. And, she has performed in Tokyo, Japan, in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2022.
Linlin double majored in Music and Politics with a minor in International Relations at Lake Forest College where she graduate with magna cum laude honors and received the Lorraine D. and H. Randall Heath Senior Prize in Music. She has a Master of Music in Piano Performance from Greatbatch School of Music at Houghton College, NY, where she attended as a full scholarship recipient and studied with Dr. William Newbrough. She is currently a DMA candidate, studying Piano Performance, Pedagogy, and Literature with Dr. Gabriel Dobner at JMU.
