Daisha M. Merritt, Ph.D.

Dr. Merritt & co-author Dr. Sabath Khan (Director and Assistant Professor, Master of Public Policy & Administration, California Lutheran University) had a book published over the summer! Remittances and International Development: The Invisible Forces Shaping Community (Routledge) examines the remittances in the two largest corridors in the World: India-Saudi Arabia and Mexico-U.S.A., and their impacts using theories of motives of giving, policy analysis, international development, and international relations. The authors have been receiving quite a bit of recognition for their work, and have been invited to present at a number of roundtables since the book's publication.

In February of this year, Dr. Allen accepted a new position as Strategy & Divisional Affairs Advisor for Charitable Giving for Catholic Relief Services in Baltimore, Maryland. Congratulations!

In May of this year, Dr. Noland accepted a new position as Assistant Dean of JMU Libraries for Strategy and Development. Congrats, Dr. Noland!

Soon after defending her dissertation this July, Dr. Reimbold was promoted to the position of Capture Excellence within the Aeronautics, Strategy & Business Development department at Lockheed Martin. Kudos, Dr. Reimbold!

Zachary Yoder, Ph.D.

In July of this year, and shortly after defending his dissertation, Dr. Yoder was appointed as The Assistant Provost for Student Success (APSS) at Eastern Mennonite University! As part of his new duties, Dr. Yoder helps develop, implement, and oversee the strategic undergraduate student success (retention, persistence and graduation) strategy and plan at EMU. Congratulations, Dr. Yoder!

Reminder! SSLS Alumni Award Nominations Due December 31st!

SSLS is excited to introduce the Biannual Strategic Leadership Distinguished Alumni Award!

Any alumnus of the School of Strategic Leadership Studies can be considered for the award.  Individuals may be nominated by a program alumnus, current student, or SSLS advisory committee member, or alumni may self-nominate. Nominations must be sent to ssls@jmu.edu between November 1 and December 31 of the award year. All nominations will be evaluated between January 1 and the Leading Change conference usually held in February on odd years, with winners announced in conjunction with the conference awards ceremonies.
