Apply to join the Engaged Teacher-Scholar (ETS) program for evidence-based explorations of teaching and learning.
In the ETS Program, faculty develop and implement an inquiry project focused on a self-selected element of their teaching and/or learning. As a learning community, faculty meet during the program to expand their knowledge base, support progress on their projects, and connect with colleagues. Faculty projects are expected to result in a scholarly product.
This year, the ETS Program will focus on self-study, i.e., the systematic inquiry of one’s teaching practices and beliefs (for more information, see Louise, Drevdahl, Purdy, & Stackman’s article "Advancing the Scholarship of Teaching Through Collaborative Self-Study." Faculty accepted into the program will develop a self-study project to be implemented in the spring semester. Faculty will receive up to $300 to support their scholarly work.
In the fall, accepted faculty will meet for an orientation to the program. This online 1-hour meeting will take place on Thursday, November 6, or Friday, November 7 between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.; the meeting time will be determined after acceptance. Spring meeting days/times will be scheduled at this orientation meeting; spring meetings will be held face-to-face on a bi-weekly basis.
Please note:
- Attendance is required for all program meetings.
- Faculty must notify their AUH about their interest in the program prior to completing an application.
An online information session will be held on October 20 (4:00 - 4:30 p.m.). This session will address expectations of the ETS Program, the program’s focus on self-study, and any questions from attendees.
