University Career Center (UCC) and University Advising together were formerly known as Career and Academic Planning (CAP). As our two offices formed to better serve all current students, prospective students, and recent graduates with more specific academic planning and career preparation needs, please make sure to read the instructions below carefully to schedule either a career advising appointment or academic advising appointment.

Career Advising Appointments

Current students and recent graduates (who are 2 years out from your graduation date) are encouraged schedule appointments with Career Advisors to discuss careers, jobs, internships, resumes, cover letters, interviewing, and graduate school. Academic Advising Appointments

Current and prospective students are encouraged to schedule appointments with University Advising's Academic Advisors to discuss choosing, exploring, or changing majors and minors, transfer credit, and other advising questions. Two ways to schedule an academic advising appointment are:

Appointment Instructions

In-person appointments: These will be conducted in the Student Success Center (SSC). At the moment both University Career Center and University Advising offices are located in on the third floor off SSC, in Suite 3210. Please check in at the front desk when you arrive.

Your appointment will be held in an open space (our Resource Center) to allow for maximum physical distancing. We have plexiglass barriers on the meeting table, and all visitors are required to wear a mask when they visit our space. Another student and staff member may be meeting in the Resource Center at the same time during your appointment, but 6 feet away. If you would like a more private option, please choose one of the other appointment mediums (email, phone, or video) listed below.

Email appointments: The staff member you have an appointment with will be in touch with you about how to send your documents to them. Please be sure to sure to include any specific questions you have in your reply.

Phone appointments: If you did not include your phone number when you originally booked the appointment, please update your meeting on Handshake by visiting You can add your phone number where it says "Add Comment". A staff member will call you at this number at the time of your appointment.

Video appointments: Zoom is the platform we use. You will need a computer with a webcam pr a tablet or phone with a camera, and you may need to download a browser plugin for Zoom. For career advising appointments, you can find the link for your appointment by logging into Handshake and visiting Click on the appointment, and scroll to the "Where" section on the left hand side. Click on this web address in your internet browser to start Zoom. If you have technical difficulties you can send a message with your phone number to the University Career Center staff member by clicking "Add Comment" in your appointment in Handshake. Then the appointment can be switched to a phone appointment.
