Europe is one of the world's most dynamic, diverse, and exciting regions. JMU provides a wide range of curricular and extracurricular opportunities for understanding modern Europe. With a strong faculty across a range of disciplines, a wide slate of study abroad opportunities, and a steady stream of speakers and events on Europe-related themes, JMU's Modern European Studies committee encourages you to get to know modern Europe better.

The Modern European Studies minor provides students with an interdisciplinary understanding of social dynamics in Europe from the Enlightenment through the present. The minor seeks to develop critical appreciation of European culture, thought, history, and society. Download a brochure (PDF)
