JMU has contracts with several vendors that can assist with remediating materials for accessibility. These companies are currently approved to do business with JMU and other public institutions in Virginia. JMU, however, does not have centralized funding for these services.
The vendors can create/remediate documents, including PDFs, for accessibility, as well as provide captioning and audio description for videos. Live captioning services are also available.
How to Work with a Vendor:
- Identify a need and consult with your leadership to determine the availability of funding for outsourcing.
- Once approved by leadership, an authorized departmental or college representative may contact the vendor directly to discuss the project and make sure they can provide the necessary services. (Vendor contact information is available on the contract websites listed below.)
- Notify JMU Procurement of plans to work with one of these accessibility vendors using the JMU contracts. Shanna Devers is the current contact in Procurement (as of April 2025) for all of these contracts.
Available Contracts:
These contracts are a combined effort of schools in the Virginia Higher Education Accessibility Partners (VHEAP) and the Virginia Higher Education Procurement Consortium (VHEPC).
