A Letter of Welcome from the
Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs

Dear Colleagues,

Your role as Academic Unit Head (AUH) is vital to Academic Affairs, and I appreciate the time and effort you devote to your faculty, your discipline and your academic unit.

To assist you in your day-to-day responsibilities and your professional development, we’ve compiled this collection of resources. This website will provide helpful guidance and tips to point you to online resources and to provide context for the many aspects and responsibilities of your role. Don’t forget, though, that your most valuable resource may well be the other AUHs in your college and across the division. I encourage you to reach out and connect with each other.

Faculty Affairs and Curriculum facilitates regular opportunities for AUHs to meet, to discuss issues and to participate in workshops specific to the role of AUH. The information for these meetings, however, comes from all areas of Academic Affairs. You’ll also receive content and updates from both Research and Scholarship and Student Academic Success and Enrollment Management. Along with me, our vice provosts are committed to assisting you.

This website is a direct result of recommendations made by AUHs over the years. It continues to evolve, and I welcome feedback on these materials that would be helpful. I also invite you to offer new ideas as you discover additional resources that are helpful to you in your AUH role.

Thank you for your continued leadership.

Sincerely,

Heather J. Coltman
Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
