Colleen Sorem (’00) joined Women for Madison’s Executive Advisory Council in September 2020.  Sorem graduated from James Madison University in 2000 with a bachelor of science in Kinesiology and a minor in business, before obtaining her masters in sports administration at the University of Alabama in 2002. She is a native of Manassas, Virginia.

Colleen supports the Duke Club and the UREC 20th Anniversary Scholarship Endeavor as well as Madison Forever.  Colleen is passionate about JMU and feels it is necessary to continue to show appreciation and support for the programs that created great experiences for her as an undergraduate, as well as have assisted in her career progress.  Her goal is to continue to give and hope to encourage others to donate and participate in giving to assist in making an impact for the JMU Community.

Colleen is currently the Deputy Athletics Director at the University of Maryland.  She is the second administrator in command with the responsibility of overseeing day-to-day operations of the athletics department. She also serves as the organization’s CFO. She began her career in Campus Recreation and has worked in Collegiate Athletics for the last 17 years.
