Alisa Ferguson (’00) joined the Women for Madison’s Executive Advisory Council in 2020. She is also a member of the Duke Club and a JMU football season ticket holder.  She supports the Dukes Pay if Forward Scholarship and other scholarship initiatives.

Alisa earned her BS in psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice from JMU. She went on to graduate with honors from the University of Richmond School of Law. Alisa worked in private practice as a trusts and estate attorney and focused her practice in the areas of estate planning, special needs planning, and estate and trust administration.  She joined Virginia529 in 2011 and currently serves as Associate General Counsel of Virginia529.  In that role, she provides legal support to Virginia529’s Board of Directors, CEO, General Counsel and Virginia529’s staff for college savings programs as well as Virginia’s ABLE savings program. She is Co-Chair of the College Savings Plan Network’s Prepaid Tuition Committee and she has presented at several national 529 and ABLE conferences. 

Alisa is a member of the Virginia Bar Association, the Metro Richmond Women’s Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Estate Planning Council of Richmond.  Alisa also serves on the Board of Directors for Medical Home Plus, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring successful outcomes for children with special needs and their families.
