Scholarship Overview

An endowed scholarship established by Susan S. Wilson together with her husband, Bernard F. Odasz, the Botetourt – Roanoke Valley Scholarship Endowment will provide financial resources annually for one or more undergraduate students from the Botetourt – Roanoke Valley area of Virginia. To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must demonstrate a record of quality leadership, as evidenced by active volunteer engagement, and such activities as religious, civic, government, and business endeavors (but, not including athletic-related activities). A demonstration of financial need shall not be required. The Donors desire that the following preferences shall guide the scholar selection process: First, students who are, or have been, members of the Church of the Transfiguration in Fincastle, Virginia; second, students who are residents of Botetourt County; third, students who are resident of the Greater Roanoke Valley (which includes the County and City of Roanoke and the surrounding environs); and fourth, students who are graduates of a Junior Achievement program. Further, the Donors desire that consideration be given to non-traditional and transfer students during the scholar selection process. Based on the above guidelines and preferences, the selection of Botetourt – Roanoke Valley Scholars shall be made in a manner determined by the University's Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships, in accordance with the University's guidelines for the awarding of scholarships.
