Kent Wise, equipment and facility manager for the department of kinesiology in the College of Health and Behavioral Studies, was recognized as a “Game Changer” on Saturday during the JMU football game against Appalachian State.

JMU Athletics created the “Game Changer” award to honor faculty and staff for their outstanding work benefiting the university and Athletics.

Wise was nominated by Sharon Lovell, dean of the CHBS. In her nomination, Lovell said Wise is an asset to both student athletes and non-athletes who share space in Godwin Hall.

"As part of his role, Kent is responsible for working directly with Athletics to oversee the use of Godwin Hall, which is a shared space among the department of kinesiology, Athletics and University Recreation," Lovell said. "His leadership in this role has been vital to successful collaboration between these three units to allow the best use of the spaces and best serve our students and student-athletes."

JMU Athletics recognizes “Game Changer” honorees at home football games throughout the season. The final “Game Changer” of the season will be recognized Nov. 22 during the game against Washington State.

Previous honorees this season were University Studies professor Phil Frana, computer science professor Chris Mayfield, physics and astronomy administrative assistant Jennifer Baltazar, School of Media Arts and Design professor Roger Soenksen, and College of Visual and Performing Arts administrative assistant Lina Akopov.
