Jennifer Baltazar, administrative assistant for the department of physics and astronomy in the College of Science and Mathematics, was recognized as a “Game Changer” on Saturday during the JMU football game against Louisiana.

JMU Athletics created the “Game Changer” award to honor faculty and staff for their outstanding work benefiting the university and Athletics.

Baltazar was nominated by Samantha Prins, dean of the College of Science and Mathematics. In her nomination, Prins stated that Baltazar does an outstanding job managing enrollment for the department.

“There are often students with special circumstances who need help signing up for classes at specific times or in particular semesters,” said Prins. “This frequently happens with student athletes, and Jen is always willing to look into their requests, search for possible solutions, and treat them in a respectful and professional manner. She goes above and beyond to meet all student needs and find flexibility in solving problems,” added Prins.

JMU Athletics recognizes “Game Changer” honorees at home football games throughout the season. “Game Changers” will also be recognized on the following dates:

  • Oct. 18 vs. ODU: College of Arts and Letters and College of Visual and Performing Arts
  • Nov. 15 vs. App State: College of Health and Behavioral Studies
  • Nov. 22 vs. Washington State: College of Business and College of Education

Previous honorees this season were University Studies professor Phil Frana and computer science professor Chris Mayfield.
