Are you wondering whether your teaching strategies are helping students learn? Are you wondering what students think about your class? Are you wondering how students are engaging in self-regulatory behavior to prepare for assignments and exams? Gathering feedback from students at the midpoint of the semester may help you address these questions AND give you the opportunity to make course adjustments that could better support their learning and/or provide them with strategies to support their own learning. In this asynchronous learning session, you will learn the whys and hows of midsemester check-ins with students. Templates for midsemester check-ins you can use this semester will also be provided.
This workshop session will include asynchronous, virtual content with optional individual or group consultations. Below is the general process:
- Instructors will be sent asynchronous virtual content by Friday, October 2.
- Instructors will review content and submit a reflection form via Microsoft Forms by Friday, October 16, which will serve as completion for the program.
- Instructors will then implement their midsemester check-ins.
Instructors can also sign up for a one-hour group consultation session or an individual consultation session to discuss the midsemester check-in process and/or feedback from students during the week of October 26th. Consultation sessions will be offered virtually on Zoom.
