About the Program
In this 4 course (12 credit) Graduate Certificate in Learning Design and Technology you will design research-based digital learning experiences and gain strategic skills needed to manage educational technology programs, projects, and resources.
This certificate is appropriate for individuals who seek a reputable credential to enhance existing qualifications, as well as individuals who may wish to continue into the JMU M.Ed. concentration in Learning Design and Technology (LDT) after certificate completion.
Remember - credits earned in this graduate certificate program may be applied to the 30 credits required in our M.Ed. in Education concentration in Learning Design and Technology!
Program Benefits
- The Learning Design and Technology Certificate program is offered entirely online in a synchronous format.
- Each course is scheduled between 5:45p.m. – 8:15p.m. one evening a week, on weekdays.

Admission Requirements
You must meet the following criteria to be considered for admission:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Official transcripts
- An undergraduate GPA of 2.5 or higher
Should you not meet these requirements, you may apply as a non-degree-seeking student for up to two courses in the program of study (enrollment requires permission from the program director and course instructor). If you earn a B or better in your first two courses as a non-degree-seeking student, you may then apply to and transfer any applicable credits to the certificate or master’s programs.
