Follow these instructions to apply to JMU’s Education (Bachelor of Individualized Study) BIS program in:
- Apply to JMU’s Education (Bachelor of Individualized Study) BIS program at applyweb.com/jmubis. Please do not use any other links to apply.
- Create an account and complete all five sections of the application. Be sure to use your full legal name and appropriate spelling and capitalization. You can save the application at any time and come back to it.
- If you are under the age of 24, your parent or legal guardian may have to complete part of the application.
- Request official transcripts through your college's transcript sending system (for example Parchment, National Student Clearinghouse, etc.)
- JMU needs your official transcripts for all colleges and universities where you have earned credits.
- Transcripts can be sent electronically (preferred) to ADP@jmu.edu or mailed to

- Your application is not considered complete until you have submitted the online application and all your transcripts by the apprpriate deadline.
- Priority consideration: Feb 10-April 1
- Regular deadline: July 1
- Students who have prerequisites to complete are encouraged to apply by April 1 for summer classes.
- Please do not send transcripts to the Office of Admissions. When given the option as to where your transcripts should be sent, please choose "other" or "employer" and enter ADP@jmu.edu. This should be available under “Set delivery destination” potentially as “Send to another individual”. Transcripts are considered official only if they are sent to JMU directly from the issuing institution.
- After your transcripts have been sent keep a copy of your confirmation email, so tracking of the document will be easier. If you are currently taking classes, you must submit updated official transcripts after your grades are posted. - ADP@jmu.edu will reach out with next steps for the acceptance process.
- Follow the new student checklist emailed to you from ADP@jmu.edu once you receive your acceptance.
