CTA REGISTRATION PROCESS: FAQ
Yes, you are allowed to register for an extra academy ONLY if the academies do not overlap the same event days. To eligible to receive the stipend for attending an academy, you must attend a full day for every day each academy is held. Attendance is monitored for both the morning and afternoon sessions.
Most likely the trouble you are encountering is the firewall or technology security systems your school or building has in place. If you continue to experience long lag times or being "timed-out" as you try to register, you may find it best to register at home or at another, less restrictive firewall location. You may also check with your school or buildings IT help desk to see if they can change the restrictions on the website. Others have reported that when their IT changed the restrictions the were able to register with no issues.
Check your spam or junk mail. Most likely the trouble you are encountering is the firewall or technology security systems your school or building has in place. If you you have not received your confirmation email after two weeks, please reach out to the contact listed below.
There is no cost for participants to attend a CTA Academy. Participants will receive a stipend payment for attending a CTA Academy. Payment amounts may vary depending on the academy attended. NOTE: Full day attendance is required to be eligible for payment. Attendance is monitored.
Participants who are registered will receive two of the three documents in digital format to complete and submit prior to check-in at the CTA event. Completing your forms promptly is important for timely processing. During the first CTA session you attend, you will be provided the final document that will complete the payment form set. NOTE: To receive a stipend payment, you MUST attend the CTA sessions every day in their entirety as scheduled. Payments will be generated upon administrative closure of the event and can take approximately 12 weeks to be received.

Yes. Here are the CTA onsite lodging and cost options:

  • No cost to participant option You can sign up for a double occupancy residence hall room on JMU's campus (adjacent to the Festival Student Conference Center). NOTE: Two CTA registered participants must occupy the double room option.
  • Cost option A single residence hall room rate is $13.00 per night (single-room availability is very limited). A participant who is traveling may arrive to check-in the evening before the registered Academy start day. Participants MUST arrive within the check-in time frame to be provided the room assignment and key. The CTA is not responsible for lodging costs incurred outside of the room check-in window of time. NOTE: Limited single rooms are available, first come, first served, and they fill quickly.
  • Cost option Participants may choose to stay in a hotel of their own choosing. The participant is fully responsible for all costs incurred for a hotel stay. We have negotiated a special rate at the following hotels. Please mention that you are attending the Content Teaching Academy.

Yes. One person from your division or school building may register multiple people. The contact person on record will be the person who sets up the registration account. To make registration easy, the person registering should have all necessary information for all parties ready. For example, will overnight, double rooms occupancy stay be selected? If so, there must be TWO registering CTA participant information per room provided during registration. If single rooms are available and are selected, a credit card payment will be collected. You will need to select “add a new registrant” and fill out the registration information for each person you are adding after the initial registrant.
Securing your contact information is a safety feature utilized by the IRIS registration system. It is important to be able to directly contact the person registering if there are any flags or additional information required to complete your registration submission. Setting up your IRIS account is easy to do by following the instructions provided. If you have difficulty with setting up an IRIS account, please see the contact person information below.
