Dr. Meredith Strohm Gunter of Charlottesville is rector of the board and is a former coordinator of residence education at Virginia Commonwealth University, director of student services at Longwood College and provost of the New College of Global Studies at Radford University.  Term:  2006-2010.

 

Mr. James E. "Jim" Hartman of Harrisonburg is vice-rector and is a 1970 graduate of JMU and is president and chief executive officer of Truck Enterprises Inc.  He has been a board member of the JMU Duke Club and Greater Madison.   Term: 2008-2012.

 

Mr. Mark T. Bowles of Goochland, a 1986 graduate of JMU, is a partner at McGuireWoods, LLP and executive vice president of MccGuireWoods Consulting, LLC of Richmond.

Term:  2007-2011.

 

Mr. Joseph Damico of Libertyville, Illinois has his B.S. (1976) and M.B.A. (1977) degrees from JMU, and is a founding partner of RoundTable Healthcare Partners.   Term:  2007-2011.

 

Mr. Ronald C. Devine of Burke, a 1978 graduate of JMU is president of A&R Foods, Inc. which owns and operates Burger Kings and other restaurants. He is also an owner/partner in Springfield Company, a real estate and commercial property commercial lending business. Term: 2006-2010.

 

Ms. Vanessa M. Evans of Charlottesville is the associate director of the Ron Brown Scholar Program. Ms. Evans currently serves on the Board of the National Scholarship Providers Association and serves as President of JMU's Black Alumni Association. She received a B.B.A.(1993) and a M.Ed.(1997) from James Madison University. Term: 2008-2012.

 

Mrs. Lois Forbes of Harrisonburg, a 1964 graduate of JMU, is an owner and director of multiple real estate development companies with holdings in Virginia and Tennessee. Term: 2006-2010.

 

Mr. Joseph K. Funkhouser II of Harrisonburg is president of Coldwell Banker Funkhouser Realtors. Term: 2008-2012.

 

Mr. Charles H. Foster Jr. of Richmond is chairman emeritus of LandAmerica Financial Group, Inc., Term: 2006-2010.

 

Mr. Stephen R. Leeolou of Charlotte, N. C. is the president and CEO of Southstar Capital, LLC.  He is a 1978 graduate of JMU.  The Leeolou Alumni Center at JMU is named for Leeolou and his wife Dee Dee Collins Leeolou.  Term:  2006-2010. 

 

Mrs. Elizabeth V. Lodal of McLean serves as a Virginia Commissioner on the Education Commission of the States. She is a former principal of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology and McLean High School. Mrs. Lodal holds a B.A. in History from Rice University and a M.A. in Secondary School Administration from The George Washington University. Term: 2008-2011.

 

Mr. Wharton B. Rivers, Jr.of McLean is vice chairman of TerreStar Networks.  He is the father of a 2002 JMU graduate.  Term:  2007-2011.

 

Mr. Larry M. Rogers of Harrisonburg has his B.S. (1979) and his M.Ed. (1981) from JMU.   Term: 2008-2012.

 

Mrs. Judith "Judy" Strickler of Harrisonburg, a 1960 graduate of JMU, is a former teacher at JMU and at York High School. She is a former board member of the JMU Foundation.  Term: 2008-2012.

 

Mr. Fred Thompson of Ashburn, Virginia, is Chief Administrative Officer of Thompson Hospitality in Herndon, VA.Term:  2007-2011.

 

Mr. Robert Cellucci is the non-voting student member of the board.  He is a junior from Malvern, VA. Term:  2009-2010.

 

Mrs. Donna L. Harper of Harrisonburg, executive assistant to JMU President Linwood H. Rose, serves as secretary to the board.  She has a bachelor's degree (1977) and educational specialist degree (1986) from JMU.
