What are Residential Learning Communities?
Residential Learning Community members:
- Are communities of 15-40 first-year students
- Live in the same residence hall (Gifford, Hoffman or Shenandoah)*
- Enrolled in the same section(s) of 1-3 courses (depending on community). See link “Which one is for me” for details.
*Your roommate may or may not be a member of a residential learning community. You have the opportunity to request a roommate regardless of whether that person applies to residential learning communities.
Our Mission Statement
The Office of Residence Life at James Madison University is committed to designing and maintaining a caring environment that encourages academic success, respect, personal growth and responsibility to one's community.
