The Institute
for Computer-Based Assessment (ICBA) is dedicated to furthering the
role of technology in assessment. Supported by a cadre of
measurement professionals, the institute specializes in the
production of testing solutions for
higher education, government, and corporate clients.
The ICBA was established in 2005. Residing in JMU’s Center for Assessment and Research Studies, ICBA extends the emphasis at CARS on the use of computer-based testing (CBT) to improve measurement and enhance assessment practice.
ICBA’s mission is threefold. First, it will conduct and disseminate research directed at improving the state of the science regarding the use of computers to attain valid measures of examinee proficiency. Second, it will provide service to the field of assessment through its development and marketing of an array of CBT-related products and services. Third, ICBA will seek external funding and business partners to support the other components of its mission. |
