The Madison Historians is open to all students including freshmen, history minors and majors, and to any student interested in history. The club provides out-of-classroom history-related experiences for students as well as fun, fellowship and service.
The Madison Historians devote one or two Saturdays each semester to assist with the restoration at Montpelier. In past semesters they have worked with the archaeologist, dug up plants, and moved furniture. They also assist with Madison Day events in March.
Most semesters the Madison Historians take a trip to a place of historical interest. Past trips have been to Williamsburg, Gettysburg, the White House, Philadelphia, Outer Banks, Harpers Ferry, Antietam, the Frontier Culture Museum and Richmond.
Each Spring the Madison Historians host a 1799 historical dance. Period dress for this event is encouraged but not required. Tickets are available in advance from club members or at the door.
For further information or to participate in Madison Historian events, contact Mary Challman (firstname.lastname@example.org).
