Alison Bodkin, Ph.D., Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, teaches primarily in the areas of public communication and advocacy studies. Many of her classes are cross-listed with Women's Studies and Environmental Studies. Dr. Bodkin's areas of research are qualitative inquiries about environmental and feminist communication, as well as advocacy studies and comedy.
On campus, Dr. Bodkin is the faculty adviser for the EARTH Club, and in the Harrisonburg community she is a member of the steering committee for Climate Action Alliance of the Valley organization.
Dr. Bodkin earned her bachelor's degree in Speech Communication from Bradley University. She went on to get her master's degree at Miami University of Ohio, and her doctorate from Southern Illinois University--Carbondale.
Outside of academic life, Dr. Bodkin is a "tragically loyal Chicago Cubs fan," who also enjoys Civil War reenactments, journaling, her nephews, recipe collecting, live music (she used to be a DJ!), and being outdoors.
