Teaching institutes provide faculty extended, immersive experiences, ranging from multi-day events to semester-long programs. Institutes allow faculty to focus on nuanced teaching and learning issues that are particular to their own contexts. They are facilitated by faculty mentors, facilitators, and consultants with expertise in pedagogy and instructional design.

Preparing Faculty to be Inclusive Teachers

A semester-long institute participants will have the opportunity to hone their skills for appreciating, leveraging, and responding to diversity within their classrooms.

jmUDESIGN

jmUDESIGN encompasses an array of initiatives designed to guide participants through the instructional design and redesign process. The summer institute will provide participants with the skills, knowledge, and support necessary to foster a learner-centered environment.

While participating in teaching institutes, faculty will:
  • Experience pedagogy appropriate to the session; and
  • Have the opportunity to actively apply the session content to their teaching.
