Dr. Kristen McCleary is an Associate Professor of History at James Madison University. Her research focuses on theater and Argentine popular culture between 1880 and 1930. She has published on the ways in which common people make sense of rapid changes in an urban environment in Argentina. In her research, she examines the ways that popular entertainment provides a way in which Latin America’s non-elite shape their own stories especially. She is particularly interested in themes of gender and social class in her research and teaching.
