Karina Kline-Gabel is a Lecturer of Spanish in the Department of Foreign Languages, Literatures, & Cultures where she teaches courses in Spanish language, film, and a community practicum for students. Coming from a bicultural family, Karina understands the great benefit of being raised within two cultures and speaking two languages. All of her courses emphasize the need to develop a worldview that shows an understanding and tolerance of diverse populations. She has worked with the Latino community for over 20 years and created the local Latino Film Festival to highlight the Hispanic arts. Karina is active in the JMU Latin American & Caribbean Committee and coordinates the Cultura y Comunidad event and is also the founder of the Madison Hispanic Faculty Caucus.
