Dr. Alison Bodkin is an Assistant Professor of Communication Studies and a member of the Advisory Board of the Women’s and Gender Studies minor at JMU. Dr. Bodkin mentors and advises the campus feminist blog Shout Out JMU!, and the student organization, EARTH Club. She has been active in environmental and feminist movements since 1998. As an academic and activist dedicated to sustainable social change, she is especially interested in the role that performance and humor has in challenging status quo. She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in environmental advocacy, feminist rhetoric, and communication theory.
