Fickes is a faculty member in the Hart School of Hospitality, Sport, and Recreation Management who has been teaching culinary arts and hospitality management for 10 years, after a 20-year career in the restaurant industry.
Fickes earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University, a master's degree in restaurant, hotel and institutional management from Texas Tech University, a master's degree in student affairs and higher education from Stephen F. Austin State University, and a doctorate in hospitality administration from Texas Tech University
