Dhar teaches courses on infectious diseases and global and U.S. healthcare systems.

Dhar’s research focuses on chronic disease prevention using mixed methods research, focusing on dietary behavioral and financial behavioral interventions among diverse populations in the United States and across the globe. He is serving as the associate editor of Translational Behavioral Medicine and has been engaged in various boards at the Society of Behavioral Medicine (USA) and the International Society of Behavioral Medicine (ISBM).

Dhar earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in zoology at the University of Calcutta, India; a Master of Education at the University of Florida, and a doctorate in human development (health behavior) at the University of Florida.
