The BRidge to Madison (Bridge) program is an invitation-only program designed for a select group of prospective JMU students who begin their academic studies at Blue Ridge Community College (BRCC) while living and engaging as a JMU Duke at James Madison University. The collaboration between JMU and BRCC allows students to make academic progress in their first-year general education courses and, upon successful completion, transition to JMU courses at the start of the second academic year culminating in a JMU degree.

Living at JMU brings numerous perks to your college lifestyle. Living on campus means living safe, living close, living supported and living connected.

Living safe at JMU means knowing your neighbors; only full-time JMU undergraduates can live in JMU’s residence halls which means you are guaranteed to be sharing space with other Dukes and only other Dukes! Safety and security are top priority with all JMU Residence Hall being equipped with Card Access systems and RA staff that live in the building and are available to assist students. All residence halls meet all state mandated fire codes including centralized alarm systems that communicate alarms directly to the fire department and the JMU police whenever the system is activated.

Living close to everything on campus is convenient! Whether it is a short walk or a bus ride, our residence halls are located across our entire campus. Each hall has wireless internet, cable and streaming services, study lounges, and a variety of recreational areas.

We keep our Dukes living supported by being there for you! The Resident Advisers (RAs) and Hall Director (HD) are always available and are there to help you. Building that support system with our hall staff will give you a support system unlike any other. We also have academic support to support our mission in designing and maintaining a caring environment that encourages academic success, personal growth and responsibility to one’s community.

Keeping connected to campus shows that students are more likely to graduate, more involved in extracurricular, social and cultural events on campus, more positive about the social climate and interact more frequently with faculty members and peers. Also, with frequent hall programming and many opportunities to engage with fellow residents in the residence halls you'll always have the chance to build and be a part of a community!
