New Professional Development Programs in 2025
School of Professional & Continuing Education (SPCE)New Professional Development Programs
Professional Development has launched several new programs in response to the continued needs of our community partners. Some of our new projects include:
Federal Government Contracting Certificate
We have partnered with JMU alum Lisa Mundt and her company Pulse to offer a certificate designed to help participants navigate the federal procurement landscape. The first session received excellent feedback!
We look forward to training the next cohort in January 2026.
In collaboration with Boulevard Consulting, we are offering three-day training sessions designed to help decision-makers gain a practical understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and its strategic role within established organizations.
Sessions will be offered in Washington, DC, in October-December, and new locations will be added in 2026.
Permaculture Design Certificate
JMU and the Shenandoah Permaculture Institute have launched our first certification focused on sustainable landscaping. Through engaging lectures, hands-on activities, field trips, and collaborative projects, participants are learning how to work with nature, instead of against it.
Professional Mediation Certificates
In partnership with Lanterns Mediation, JMU is offering a range of trainings in dispute resolution. The pilot program, Foundations in Mediation Practice, will launch this fall semester.
