JMU condemns the brutal attack on Israel and offers support for our community

JMU News

As we all have been watching and reading about the tragic situation unfolding in Israel and Gaza, we have also been thinking about our students, faculty, alumni and greater communities impacted by the conflict. We join others around the world in condemning terrorism and Hamas’ brutal attack on Israel. We mourn the heartrending loss of life in the region.

We are also reminded once again of our global interconnectedness and our shared humanity, and we should all come together in support of the innocent victims. Our thoughts are especially with our friends and colleagues who have personal ties to the region as this crisis unfolds.

We care for each and every member of our JMU community. With compassion and respect, we seek to understand one another through civil discourse, careful listening, reasoned conversation, and intentional care. These are hallmarks of the JMU educational community.

We continue to reach out to members of the JMU community who have been directly affected as we offer support and resources. These conversations have shown us the fear and anguish that many are experiencing. This is a time to show empathy and kindness to all around you. Please reach out to your friends and colleagues to check in on their emotional well-being.

All members of the JMU community are invited to utilize the support offered on campus as we work through these difficult moments together.
