Preparing to Enroll at JMU

Once you have been admitted to JMU, follow the directions in your admission packet and sign up for Transfer Orientation. Transfer orientation is a very important program that will provide you with critical information about enrolling at the university.  In addition to learning about JMU, you will meet with your academic adviser to discuss your program requirements and register for classes.

Checklist for Matriculating Transfer Students

  • Don't forget to have a final copy of your official transcript(s) sent to JMU. If you are transferring from a Virginia community college with an associate degree, make sure the type of degree you have earned is listed on the official transcript before it is sent to JMU. If you are transferring from an international college or university, don't forget to submit a global credit evaluation.
  • Review information about declaring a major at JMU.
  • Sign up for Orientation.
  • International students are also required to attend a special orientation called Transitions. Click here for more information on this program.
