Guaranteed Admission to JMU

JMU has a Guaranteed Admission Agreement with BRCC. Students who meet all GAA requirements must sign a Letter of Intent when they apply for admission to JMU. The application fee is waived for BRCC students who qualify for the GAA. JMU's Transfer Advising Coordinator, Ms. Kate McDaniel, signs both the Letter of Intent and the fee waiver form, and then submits them to the JMU Admissions Office. Please Note: All college coursework is considered under the GAA; if you have attended any other college or university in addition to BRCC, you must provide Ms. McDaniel with those transcripts (unofficial ok) in order for her to sign the Letter of Intent.

Regional Teacher Education Agreement (RTEA)

The RTEA is designed for students who plan to pursue Inclusive Early Childhood, Exceptional, Elementary, Middle, or Secondary Education at JMU. Similar to the GAA, the RTEA requires a Letter of Intent. However, the RTEA Letter of Intent should be signed at the beginning of your BRCC career, or as soon as you have decided on your education plan. Ms. Donna Mayes (mayesd@brcc.edu) is the BRCC liaison for the RTEA, and is the person who signs the letter. Please Note: If you are interested in teaching at the high school level, you will major in the content area you wish to teach (e.g. English or math). For all other education programs, you will major in Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies (IDLS).

Meet with the JMU Transfer Advising Coordintor

Ms. McDaniel holds regular office hours at the BRCC Weyers Cave campus. Registered BRCC students may schedule an appointment through the Student Services Scheduler on Blackboard. Students who do not have access to BRCC's Blackboard site, or wish to make an appointment at her JMU office, may contact her at mcdanikm@jmu.edu, or 540-568-5205.

Meet with the JMU Transfer Advising Coordinator

Ms. McDaniel schedules regular visits to the Middletown campus; usually every other Thursday during the fall and spring semesters. Check with the Counseling Office in room 162 to sign up.
