All supervisors and managers are statutorily mandated to attend Grievance Procedure training offered at JMU or successfully complete the online training course provided by Commonwealth of Virginia’s Department of Employment Dispute Resolution. The online training course is available for all state employees, at no cost, via the Commonwealth of Virginia's Knowledge Center.
Participants will learn the fundamentals of using the Commonwealth’s grievance procedure to resolve workplace disputes and become familiar with basic provisions of the Grievance Procedure Manual.
The online course consists of three modules, and will take approximately 1.5 hours to complete. Successful completion is contingent upon achieving a score of 80 or higher on the brief quiz following each module.
Step 1: Go to https://covkc.virginia.gov. First-time Knowledge Center users must register.
Step 2: Choose Course Information & Enrollment from the drop-down list in the top, right-hand corner.
Step 3: Type Grievance in the Keyword search box.
Step 4: Select MVP HR Policy & Law – Understanding and Using the Grievance Procedure.
Step 5: Once you have completed the course, view and print your certificate of completion.
