Workshop Description: The Portrait of Personal Strengths and Portrait of Overdone Strengths are part of the Strength Deployment Inventory (SDI)* suite of tools. Even though two individuals may share similar Motivational Value Systems, they may prioritize their strengths differently and use different behaviors to build their self-worth. The Portrait of Personal Strengths uses 28 defined strengths to produce a picture of individual strengths. This portrait sets the stage for learning to borrow behavior to be more effective in relationships and provides insight into the idea of mask behavior.

Our greatest strengths can also become our greatest weaknesses. The Portrait of Overdone Strengths uses 28 defined overdone strengths to provide insight into the costs of overdone strengths and sources of unwarranted conflict. Participants who use this portrait are able to make more informed behavior choices by recognizing when they are about to overdo a strength. When the costs of overdone strengths become clear, participants feel more empowered to borrow other behavior and be more effective.

*The SDI® (Strength Deployment Inventory®) is a memorable way to enhance peoples’ ability to communicate more effectively and handle conflict more productively. It looks beyond behavior to describe the motives and values behind behavior — encouraging a level of understanding and respect for people of all personality types. In addition, the SDI offers an innovative approach to looking at interpersonal conflict and ways to turn it into a positive force for change. For more information visit Personal Strengths.
