Ouch! That Hurts: Speaking Up or Staying Silent, the Choice is Yours

Course# TD1399

Note: This workshop is capped at 16 participants.

Categories: Diversity and Communication

Level: Intermediate

Type: Single-Session Workshop

Pre-requisites: None

Target Audience: Individuals interested in exploring personal biases, stereotypes and learning how to be a pro-active ally.

Workshop Description: When confronted with potentially offensive situations how you react is a personal choice. Staying silent or actively participating in the face of demeaning comments, stereotypes or bias allows these attitudes and behaviors to thrive. This undermines our ability to create an inclusive environment where all are welcomed, treated with respect and able to do their best. In this session participants will explore personal bias and learn techniques to communicate without bias, stereotyping, discounting or discriminating.
