Target Audience: Individuals interested in better understanding themselves while gaining an appreciation and understanding of cultural diversity.
Workshop Description: This interactive workshop will allow participants to gain new insights into intercultural competence while learning about self. A variety of activities will be offered to develop an understanding of the influence of cultural world view on perception and identify sources of stereotypes. Participants will begin to understand cross-cultural contrasts in communication styles and values.
In this workshop participants will:
- Define Intercultural Competence
- Review the Development Model of Intercultural Sensitivity
- Identify attainable intercultural competencies for each stage
- Examine patterns of resistance to change
