Target Audience: Administrative assistants or others interested in learning about the JMU hiring process.

Course Description: PAR forms/student contracts, interview questions, employment law, reference checks, diversity, payroll...Does the recruitment and hiring process seem overwhelming to you? It can be, but we have created a 2-part training session to help you! Do you hire student employees? We'll cover it! Do you hire faculty? We'll cover it! Do you hire staff? We'll cover it! (formerly HR1002)

Session 1:  Employment law; Diversity considerations; Recruiting and interviewing for faculty, classified, wage and student employees; Hiring an international employee; Onboard; and Hiring paperwork for faculty, classified, wage, student and GA positions.

Session 2:  Parking for new employees; Orientation of faculty, classified and wage employees; Performance evaluations for faculty, staff and student employees; Employee leave; and Payroll deadlines and classifications.
