Target Audience: Individuals interested in understanding how behaviors and communication differences impacts how we relate to others.

Workshop Description: We assume that people think, act and communicate like we do and when we encounter people who do not, it impacts how we react to them.  In this interactive simulation, participants will learn first-hand how cultural differences impacts communication and behaviors.  This exercise raises awareness of the impact of cultural differences and diversity and the validity of seeking first to understand. 

In this workshop participants will:

  • Participate in an interactive learning exercise
  • Discuss cultural norms and their impact on individuals, teams, departments and communities
  • Discuss the impact of cultural differences and how differences impact us individually and as a collective
  • Discover how communication gets misconstrued when impacted by cultural differences
  • Brainstorm ideas for applying what was learned in order to create understanding, acceptance and inclusion around diversity issues
