Target Audience: These workshops are intended for new Building Coordinators and Assistant Building Coordinators as well as experienced Coordinators who need a refresher or who have questions about one of the topics listed below.

Series Description: James Madison University relies on building coordinators for many things. The Building Coordiators Series provides timely topics to keep you up to date on all the latest issues. You may attend any or all of the workshops.


TD1626: Environmental Stewardship 

Workshop Description: Please join CJ Broderick Hartman, Executive Director for JMU’s Institute for Stewardship of the Natural World, to discuss waste management, energy savings, the JMU best practices checklist, and the JMU idea challenge. Learn how Building Coordinators can help JMU become more environmentally responsible.

Workshop Description: Participants will learn about Emergency Preparedness from the Office of Public Safety.  Topis will include what to do in the event ofa  hostile intruder, how to handle bomb threats, the Thor Guard lightning detection system, and how the University will communicate during emergencies.

TD1630: Risk Management and Fire Safety

Workshop Description: Participants will learn about fire safety, some basic information about how the university property and vehicle insurances work, as well as some other basic information about general building safety.
