Make-Ups:  Make-ups are not available for this series. The learning associated with this series depends on your attendance and participation with others in all sessions. Please review your calendars for commitment to the entire series prior to registration.

Target Audience: Individuals interested in creating work/life balance; making positive changes in their lives to be healthier; developing a new habit to improve health and/or quality of life

Series Description: This program is a series of education programs that provide a foundation to what “Wellness” is and gain practical experience in each Wellness Dimension.  Within this series, participants will receive Wellness Coaching and small group support to help them move through a behavior change. 

The workshops will cover information on:

  • Goal Setting   
  • Behavior Change Models/theories     
  • Benefits of Physical Activity, Nutrition, Weight Management
  • Creating a plan for Physical Activity
  • Stress Relief strategies
  • Brain development and the mind/body connection
  • Creating your life’s vision
  • How our environment impacts our health
  • How we fit in the world and relate to others
  • Resources and strategies for financial wellness
  • Creating meaningful work

Session 1: Wellness 101

Workshop Description: What is “Wellness”?   What is a balanced life? This session provides an introduction to the overall idea of wellness.  Be ready to set your goal(s) to start the new year in the right direction.

Session 2: Physical Well-being

Workshop Description:  Exercise and nutrition are medicine.  This session focuses on these two parts of physical well-being and their relationship to other aspects of our lives.  Weight management, creating an exercise plan and setting reasonable nutritional goals will be the focus of this session. Come dressed for light activity.

Session 3: Emotional Well-being

Workshop Description: Stress is a huge contributing factor to illness and disease.  Learn practical techniques for dealing with stress.  Come dressed for light activity.

Session 4: Intellectual Well-being

Workshop Description: Learning new skills is helpful in creating new neuropathways in the brain.  The mind and the body are truly connected. This playful session will utilize games and tools for sharpening our mental health.

Session 5: Spiritual Well-being

Workshop Description:  Do you live intentionally and with purpose?  What are your dreams?  With the use of journaling techniques, we can begin to answer these question to move toward a deeper understanding of ourselves and our vision for our own lives.

Session 6: Social Well-being

Workshop Description:  How do you relate to others?  This session will enhance relational skills as we reflect on different personality types and how they interplay.

Session 7: Environmental Well-being

Workshop Description:  Our surroundings affect our physical well-being.  These are the questions that will be addressed:  How can I have a positive impact on my environment?  How does my environment impact my physical health?

Session 8: Other Aspects of Wellness (Occupational and Financial Well-being) 

Workshop Description:  Our work environment and finances impact our lives every day.  Does your current job fit your future career goals?  Do you find meaning in your daily work?  What are some simple strategies to alleviate financial stresses?  Learn about resources and tools that can be helpful.
